New Approach of Controlling Cardiac Alternans

The alternans of the cardiac action potential duration is a pathological rhythm. It is considered to be relating to the onset of ventricular fibrillation and sudden cardiac death. It is well known that, the predictive control is among the control methods that use the chaos to stabilize the unstable fixed point. Firstly, we show that alternans (or period-2 orbit) can be suppressed temporally by the predictive control of the periodic state of the system. Digital information receiver based on stochastic resonance

International audience; An electronic receiver based on stochastic resonance is presented to rescue subthreshold modulated digital data. In real experiment, it is shown that a complete data restoration is achieved for both uniform and Gaussian white noise.

Calibrating the effective scattering albedo in the SMOS algorithm: some first results

International audience; This study focuses on the calibration of the effective scattering albedo (ω) of vegetation in the soil moisture (SM) retrieval at L-Band. Currently, in the SMOS Level 2 and 3 algorithms, the value of ω is set to 0 for low vegetation and ∼ 0.06 – 0.08 for forests. Different parameterizations of vegetation (in terms of ω values) were tested in this study. The possibility of combining soil roughness and vegetation contributions as a single parameter (“combined” method) leads to an important simplification in the algorithm and was also evaluated here. Since several decades, the camera spatial resolution is gradually increasing with the CMOS technology evolution. The image sensors provide more and more pixels, generating new constraints for the suitable optics. As an alternative, promising solutions propose Super Resolution (SR) image reconstruction to extend the image size without modifying the sensor architecture. Implicit learning of a repeated segment in continuous tracking: A reappraisal

2006

Several prior studies (e.g., Shea, Wulf, Whitacre, & Park, 2001; Wulf & Schmidt, 1997) have apparently demonstrated implicit learning of a repeated segment in continuous-tracking tasks. In two conceptual replications of these studies, we failed to reproduce the original findings. However, these findings were reproduced in a third experiment, in which we used the same repeated segment as that used in the Wulf et al. studies.
